Don't Forget Pile Height. One thing that you're sure to see noted in the descriptions of most types of carpeting is pile height. This is self-explanatory enough: It refers to how high above the backing individual fibers extend. The taller those pieces are, the greater the pile height is. Although some claim that high pile heights equal fragile carpet, the truth is that ultra-low pile heights only make sense for stairways, where safety has to be a top concern. Otherwise, it's perfectly fine and desirable for carpeting to have a decent pile height.
To have clean carpet, not only do you have to keep the dirt and spills off, you need to vacuum the carpet when it is dirty as well. Steam cleaning your carpet is also a good idea to help keep your carpet clean. Steam cleaning the main rooms in your home about once a month should keep your carpet clean and long lasting. You can buy and steam cleaner and do it yourself or hire a good company to come and clean your carpets for you.
